Safety Meeting Recap

On Tuesday 2/26/13 there was a neighborhood safety meeting that was attended by about 60 concerned citizens.  The meeting was sponsored by four neighborhood associations: Shasta / Hanchett Park Neighborhood Association, Newhall Neighborhood Association, Rose Garden Neighborhood Preservation Association & College Park Neighborhood Association.

Captain Ciaburro spoke to the neighborhood about the state of the San Jose Police Department and how best to utilize their services during these tough budget times.

Safe and Strong Neighborhood - Mayor's Gang and Crime Prevention Summit 2/13

Update on Recent Crimes and Gang Activity

San Jose City Council members, Mayor Chuck Reed, Police Chief Chris Moore and others gathered Tuesday night, 9/18/12 at City Hall for a public study session on the police response to violent crime and gang activity.

The session began as a detailed overview of what police have done to manage crime in the face of budget cuts, staffing deficits, and a summer flare-up of violent crime in the city.  Link to presentation

It ended with most of the council members weighing in on what the city and department should do to maintain the quality and staffing levels of the police force.

San Jose Clean App

Keeping SAN JOSE CLEAN is now Just a Click Away –

The Department of Parks Recreation and Neighborhood Service’s Anti-Graffiti/Anti-Litter Program has launched a free application called SAN JOSE CLEAN.  This App allows residents with smart phones to point, click and send photos of graffiti, litter and City park conditions.  Along with the picture, users can provide a brief description of the violation to assist staff that will be assigned to address the request and choose an option to receive status updates.  The Droid application is currently available by visiting the Android Market, while the iPhone application is available on Apple’s App Store.

 

Residents will still have the option to report graffiti directly to the Anti-Graffiti Program by e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
