Lincoln Community Fights to Save Vital Performing Arts Classes for High School Students
Parents, Alumni, and Community Members Say Keeping Performing Arts Classes Key to Student Success
Organization: Lincoln High School Performing Arts Coalition
What: A fundraising event, Into the Woods in Concert, will be held on Saturday July 24th at the Lincoln High School Black Box Theatre. Alumni from three decades will perform together to raise funds to save four performing Arts classes slated to be cut by the San Jose Unified School District due to budget cutbacks. Tickets for the event are $50 and are available at http://www.lincolnperformingarts.com
Why: Unless $75,000 can be raised to save them, four classes central to Lincoln High School’s highly regarded performing arts program will be cut by the San Jose Unified School District because of a re-allocation of funds needed to implement State-mandated proficiency classes for incoming freshmen.

For this Open Studio, over 25 artists specializing in oil, water color, acrylic, mixed media, pastel paintings and fiber as well as jewelry, woodwork, photography and music, will open their working studios to the public. During open studios you will be able to meet and converse with the artists, observe their working artistic processes and enjoy the artwork directly. All visitors are welcome including art enthusiasts.
