The Communications Committee is responsible for providing the Association with issues and events by producing publications and electronic communications, including a print newsletter, the S/HPNA e-Bulletin, managing the S/HPNA Talk e-mail discussion list, and the S/HPNA website.
The Events Committee strengthens the sense of community identity, pride, and tradition through coordination of a diverse range of communitywide and members-only events throughout the year, such as the annual holiday tree lighting, barbeques, home tours, and wine tastings.
The Neighborhood Preservation Committee enhances the community's quality of life by addressing issues affecting neighborhood livability and environment that are not related to planning and zoning. Issue areas include:
Planning & Land Use
The Planning and Land Use Committee (PLUC) ensures the community's viability and sustainability through monitoring and advocating on significant land use, urban planning, architectural, historic preservation, environmental, and housing and commercial development issues. Members of this committee meet with developers who are considering projects in our neighborhoods and work with the City of San José to have developers hold community meetings to discuss proposals. The committee also represents the Association at Planning Commission and City Council meetings and works with neighbors who want to attend and speak at public hearings. Committee members are advocates for our neighborhoods and we invite your participation.
The Volunteer Services Committee fosters and recognizes community involvement and supports the activities of the Association by connecting interested volunteers with opportunities on S/HPNA committees and support for other Association events and programs.
